No Sleep eyes fourth straight stakes

No Sleep eyes fourth straight stakes
By MARY RAMPELLINI

No Sleep looks like best-bet material Friday night in the $100,000 Treasure Chest at Delta Downs. A one-mile race for fillies and mares, the Treasure Chest is one of four undercard stakes that support the Grade 3, $1 million Delta Jackpot.

The Treasure Chest is also part of a $50,000 guaranteed, all-stakes pick four that starts in the fifth race, the $100,000 Sam's Town.

No Sleep has won three stakes in her last three starts, most recently in the $150,000 Violet on Oct. 20 at The Meadowlands. She led throughout over a track rated good and earned a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 103, which is at least 19 points higher than each of the last-race numbers earned by her rivals in the Treasure Chest.

"She's a pretty salty filly," said Eric Guillot, who co-owns and trains No Sleep. "She's a gritty type. She's 9 for 24, so that right there tells all. She knows how to win races."

No Sleep is making her first start for Guillot after being purchased privately by Southern Equine Stables. Her current win streak began in May, when she rolled to a 7 1/4-length win over Grade 1 winner Sis City in a $65,000 stakes at Monmouth Park. One start later, she defeated Grade 2 winner Capeside Lady in the $110,000 Iowa Distaff on July 1.

No Sleep has used front-running tactics in her races, and Guillot said he expects more of the same Friday. She will break from post 3 under Tracy Hebert and could sit just off the quick Kresgeville. Guillot said with a good performance Friday, No Sleep, a Florida-bred, could head to Santa Anita for the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Distaff on Jan. 27.
